The Conflict and Human Security program (formerly called "Peace Studies") is part of the Department of Political Science, which is one of the most highly rated political science programs in the country.  It is top ranked nationally by US News and World Report, the National Research Council and through numerous studies, such as the most recent one, found here.  In fact, our faculty serve as President of the Peace Science Society International and the International Studies Association, the two most prominent and important organizations of scholars, students diplomats, and practitioners in the world.  We are one of the most successful programs not just in Texas, but across the United States and around the world because we excel as scholars and teachers.

We prepare you with the intellectual rigor and the practical experience you will need to learn, develop your skills and identify your career path.  Our faculty are not only among the best at UNT and throughout Texas, as recognized by our peer s and the many awards people have won, they are also ranked as some of the top scholars in the nation.  We are outstanding teachers, top-ranked scholars and we are passionate about helping our students find their place in the world.

WHY STUDY CONFLICT AND HUMAN SECURITY?

UNT's Conflict and Human Security program can prepare you to pursue careers in foreign service, international and human rights law, international business, the Peace Corps, and advocacy for the security of development, human rights, environmental protections, and conflict resolution. There are numerous opportunities to get involved in undergraduate and graduate research, internships, and study abroad trips. We encourage any and all majors to join, as we encourage having a variety of disciplines within the scope of human security. If you are interested in all things human rights and peacebuilding, the UNT Conflict and Human Security program is the place for you. There are so many opportunities to not just learn about peace, conflict and human security, but to practice and apply the knowledge you learn from classes in real-life settings.
